Abstract
In this paper I will attempt to review the criticism published between the years 1940 and 1965 which concerns Smollett's reputation as the author of The Adventures of Roderick Random, The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle, The Adventures of Ferdinand Count Fathom, The Adventures of Sir Launcelot Greaves, and The Expedition of Humphry Clinker.
