Abstract
The purpose of this thesis has been to create ideas in clay using the slab method and coil method of handbuilding to achieve an art form where each forming method is essential to the other and to the total piece. Throughout my entire thesis I used only the surfaces which result from the coil and pinch methods or surfaces scraped during the leather hard stage with a steel scraper. The form and surface are not complete without each other, but placed together are a fulfillment of a complete ceramic form.
