Abstract

Samples of gas Hell-head condensate (Natural Gasoline) were analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography and the major components collected by preparative gas chromatography. The products were identified by comparison of standard retention time. Several of the components were also verified by NHR spectroscopy. Major components of Russell County samples were the normal hydrocarbons of C4-C7. Unsaturated hydrocarbons were found to be present, but in relatively small quantities. Cyclic components, benzene, cyclohexane and methylcyclohexane were identified in these samples. From the Stafford County well, normal saturated hydrocarbons predominated but cyclic compounds were in higher percentage than from the Russell area. The major portion of the sample from the Phillipsburg area was isopentane and normal pentane and hexane, heptane was minor, as also were the cyclic compounds.
