Description
This black and white photograph features a woman, Anna Sternberg, standing by a Portheus specimen that is in the process of being excavated at the base of a rock formation west of Elkader, Kansas. The tail part of the fish can be seen in a frame set up around it. Opposite the woman are several supplies, including pails, trunks, and large bags. There is a big hole in the rock formation wall to the woman's left. This specimen went to the Denver Museum of Natural History. A white border surrounds the photograph. Handwriting is below the image.
