Description
A black and white photo of a house at 603 Elm Street in Hays, Kansas. The two story house was the home for the George F. Sternberg family when he was the director and curator of the museum on the Fort Hays Kansas State Teachers College (now Fort Hays State University). The photo shows a front and left side view of the house. There is snow on the yard. A person in a winter coat and hat is standing next to a tree in the yard next to the left side of the house. A brick and concrete divider separates part of the yard from the sidewalk and the yard to the left. Several evergreen trees are in front of the house. A branch of an evergreen tree is on its side next to the concrete divider. A garage is seen behind the house. Part of another house is in the background to the right. On the left side of the photo, branches of another tree can be seen. The cupola of Picken Hall is seen in the left upper background.
