Description

This item features the black and white photo of two houses on Elm Street in Hays, Kansas. The house on the right was the home for the George F. Sternberg family when he was the director and curator of the museum at Fort Hays Kansas State Teachers College (now Fort Hays State University). The photo shows a front and right side view of the house. An alleyway that is beside the house leads to a garage, and in the background behind the garage, the top part of Sheridan Coliseum (now Sheridan Hall) can be seen. A fireplace chimney is on the right side of the house. A brick and concrete divider separates part of the yard from the sidewalk and driveway. An electric pole and two trees without their leaves stand in the front yard near the street. Other trees are in between the two houses.
