Description
This black and white photograph features an excavation site bordered by eroded outcrops covered with vertical rills. In the background on the right, a man facing right chisels at the rocks in front of him. He wears a fedora and a button-down shirt, and he holds a hammer and chisel. A pickaxe lies in front of him. Another pickaxe lies against a slope of rocks off to the left, and a shovel handle is visible on the right. In the foreground, a cloth canopy covers various supplies, including a barrel, a box of “Kellogg’s Toasted Cornflakes,” a camera, a thermos, and a hanging cloth bag. Two saddled horses wait on the left. Numbers are written below the photograph.
