Description
This black and white photograph features an excavation site. In the foreground, two men are dressed in bib overalls and long-sleeved shirts. Calvin Harold Riggs wears a brimmed hat, and one wears a flat cap. George Sternberg is leaning over a metal pail, and Harold is on his hands and knees, surrounded by cut pieces of burlap. The two men are following field jacketing steps to secure an excavated dinosaur fossil for transport. Behind the men are two wooden barrels resting on a small wooden sled, and a horse in a strapped harness and horse collar is facing away from the camera, on the left side of the photograph. The terrain of the foreground is rocky. The landscape in the background is an eroded outcrop featuring dry shrubbery. Numbers are written below the photograph.
