Description
This black and white photograph is taken from within the draw of a dry creek. This photograph depicts outcrops covered in deep rills. At the top of the centermost outcrop is a circular hoodoo. The outcrops are stratified horizontally, in contrast to the rills which run vertically down the slopes of the outcrops. The foreground is relatively flat, as a result of the dry creek bed, and the creek bed itself is used by the team of paleontologists as a makeshift path. The banks of the creek bed are dotted with living and dead sagebrush, but the creek bed itself contains large slabs of exposed sandstone. Two mules, one with a rider, occupy the middle left section of the photograph. Both mules are saddled. Barnum Brown is riding the mule on the far right is wearing overalls, a white shirt, and a cap. He has a large, bushy moustache. Numbers are written below the photograph.
