Artist's Statement

Rekindled Spirit is a visual metaphor for the journey of faith, fragile yet enduring, broken yet restored. Through the unpredictable nature of the raku firing process, this piece captures the raw tension between chaos and transformation. The crackled glaze and scorched surface symbolize the trials and refining fire that test and ultimately renew the believer’s spirit.

The bottle form, traditionally a vessel, represents the human soul: hollow yet filled with purpose. Though scarred by fire, it stands firm, reborn, not in perfection but divine grace. This work speaks to the moment when faith is not lost, but rediscovered—when the embers of belief are stirred again into flame.

As a Christian artist, I see this piece as a personal testimony. It embodies the resurrection of trust in God after spiritual struggle, reminding us that even when our faith seems shattered, it can be rekindled into something stronger, more authentic, and deeply beautiful.
