Artist's Statement
I created this piece based on my frustration with our current political system. There are many issues in our current political climate but I wanted to touch on the large amount of groups that are affected by the controlling nature of our current president. To represent this, I have a woman climbing up the stairs to the US capital. She is surrounded by “No Kings Day“ protest signs, which shows her inner thoughts about the president. Since the perspective is from the back side of the capital the East wing in shambles is on the left. This represents how the East wing was demolished to create room for a ”Golden Ballroom.” The figure is marching up to the capital to fight for her rights and hopefully make an impactful change.
