Artist's Statement
This piece was inspired by by time spent in the Louvre, with specific reference to "Victory at Samothrace". For so long, I wanted to go to the Louvre and experience the art that I had been learning about in my classes. However, as is often the case, reality didn't always align with what I had pictured in my head, for better or for worse. The rust represents the disparity between dreams and the realization of that in daily life.
