Artist's Statement
Becoming entrapped within the fluid yet solid movement of these pieces remains the mission of my art. The point of these mugs were meant to engage the viewer in a manner that would maintain attention for lengthy periods of everyday activities, that is, morning cappuccinos for example. It is my belief that these repetitive small moments in life are what can foster extreme introspection and critical thinking. By creating visually and sensually complex forms, I know these functional pieces provide the exact accessory needed to drift off into a meditative state as one smooths over one spot in particular with their digits or drifts one’s lips across the rough and smooth fluctuating lips.
