Artist's Statement

Still Standing, a ceramic figure stands barefoot in a forest of decorative ornamentation, awkwardly enclosed in the remnants of a hoopskirt, hands behind her back. Flourish marks appear as scars of internalized expectation of beautification. Her curly hairdo suggests attempted control of unruly strands and nods to 18^th Century icons of fashion.
