Abstract
Research surrounding dually-involved youth (justice system and child welfare) and their connection to crime has increased exponentially in recent years. Contemporary research indicates that the experiences of dual system-involved youth represent a complex phenomenon. Certain characteristics can moderate the likelihood of delinquency and offending for youth concurrently involved in both systems. Notably, however, these correlations may not be as direct or significant as prior research has illustrated. The purpose of this poster is to expose a general snapshot of the research on this possible connection. This poster presents the evolution of research on this subject, discusses casual risk factors, and explores program and policy applications to both the justice system and child welfare system.
