Abstract
During COVID-19 there was a need for consistent and meaningful experiential learning opportunities for students (Pardue et al., 2022). Due to the shortage of nursing faculty, competitive clinical sites, patient safety concerns among other implications the use of virtual reality (VR) simulation technology has been more utilized in nursing programs. VR simulation is the future of health care education and it is becoming more accessible and cheaper due to advancements in VR technology. Implementation of VR simulation will allow nurse educators to augment clinical and simulation experiences to further improve nursing students’ knowledge and confidence prior to them having hands-on in-person experiences. It is anticipated that nursing programs that implement VR simulation will allow nursing students to be more confident and knowledgeable in the in-person clinical setting.
