Abstract

This research works to map out shale within the Arbuckle formation in Kansas counties Ellis, Trego, Graham, and Rooks using ArcGIS Pro software. Subsurface maps are a key component to a successful petroleum industry, and modern Arbuckle maps are sought after by the industry today. Intra-Arbuckle shale has been shown to create compartmentalization throughout KS in private studies, but the shale has never been mapped out or studied. This research will open the door to more research opportunities as well as more knowledge on shale within the Arbuckle and possibly other formations in the future.
