Description
This color photograph features German prisoners of war who were held at the Fort Hays Experiment Station between September 1943 and November 1945 to help alleviate the farm labor shortage. This photo shows a prisoner helping with grounds maintenance outside Picken Hall in the Autumn of 1943. A large tree trunk is on the ground, and three men stand around the trunk.
