Description

This black and white postcard features St. Francis Catholic Church with its steeple. St. Francis Catholic Church was completed in 1889.An Outside of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor, Kansas, Postcard. This early black-and-white photo shows the exterior of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. It is a limestone building with a steeple and a sanctuary. The steeple has a large arched doorway in the center. Three arched indentations in the tower have ledges above and below, with a statue of St. Francis of Assisi placed in the center. At the top of the bell tower, the front and side walls have louvered shutters, and each corner has a small protruding square pillar with a cross at the top. The spire is long and pointed and has a larger cross at the top. The sanctuary portion has one tall arched window visible on the right façade. Short stone posts surround a small area of dormant trees to the right of the church.
