Description

This black and white photograph features a swing dance at Fort Hays Kansas State College. In the center, a woman and man swing dance. On the left, the back of a man in a coat is seen sitting in a dark metal folding chair. On the right, a man sits cross-legged on a stool, holding his chin. Left of him, a woman wearing a plaid jacket and earmuffs watches the dancers and leans against the wall. Behind her, another woman leans on a bench. Another woman sits on the bench. In the back corner of the room, a woman smiles at the dancers. To her right, a man looks at the camera. The women wear knee-length skirts and winter attire. The men wear dress pants. The swing-dancing woman wears bobby socks and saddle shoes. Her partner wears saddle shoes. Leafless tree branches are outside four windows. In the upper right corner of the picture is a mural of a 19th-century scene. Above the photo is this caption: “And the jukebox blared…..”
