Description
A black and white photograph at Fort Hays Kansas State College from 1931. Six young college women stand in a field behind Sheridan Hall. The women hold the circular signs up with both arms. Their arms are bent, so each sign is not held up, just high enough to be behind their heads. The circular signs have the letters and numbers “F,” “H,” “S,” “C,” “3,” and “1” written on them. In order, the signs spell “FHSC 31.” The women look into the camera, except for the far-right woman, who looks at the ground. The women stand with legs straight and close together, wearing loose, shiny, sleeveless blouses tucked into black shorts that end at mid-thigh length. They wear various Mary Jane and other styles of flats, and some women wear socks underneath.
