Description

A black and white photograph. A concert band of adolescents rehearses as a group, estimated to be in the 1980s. The room has two exits on opposite walls and a drop-tile ceiling. The single door has signage above it. The double doors are positioned in a block of color on the wall. Teenagers playing instruments face the conductor and a freestanding chalkboard. Behind the chalkboard are unused timpani. The conductor is leading the band in playing with a baton in hand and looks in the direction of the camera. There are four rows of adolescent boys and girls in casual summer clothing. Adolescents in the fourth row play bassoon and tuba. The third row has trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and a baritone. The first two rows have flutes and clarinets. Instrumentalists sit in metal folding chairs with metal music stands holding their sheet music. Trumpet cases sit behind the trumpet players.
