Description

The black and white photograph was taken in the late 1970s inside Lewis Field Stadium at Fort Hays State University. At the front of the photo is a member of the color guard. She wears a pioneer-inspired dress with two horizontal stripes ribbon at the hem, boots, a hat, and a scarf tied around her neck. She holds up a color guard flag. Behind her is the band. The back of the band’s uniform says “FORT HAYS” across the top, and the face of a tiger is in the center. Three band members face away from the camera. The left and center member carries a baritone horn, and the right member holds an instrument in front of them. In front of them, four band members march toward the left of the image while playing the trombone. Behind them, the drumline faces the stands. The drummer on the right plays a bass drum. The spectators fill the stands.
