Description
This black and white photograph features eleven women dancers posing on a stage. The group is posing in front of a backdrop of the old Fort Hays blockhouse with a tree in front of it. On the left side of the tiered stage, the first three women are reclining on the stage with their left arm and pointing with their right arm to the left of the photo. The fourth woman from the left is leaning to her left on her left arm with her other arm at her side. The fifth woman from the left is sitting upright, using her left hand to lean on the stage and her right hand to point to the left of the photo. The sixth woman on the stage is centered, standing in front of a foil throne prop with both arms to her sides and wearing a white crown or headband. The five women on the left side of the centered woman are posed in a mirrored way to the women on the left side of the photo. All are wearing simple long-sleeved flowing dresses and ballet shoes with ankle ribbons. "Bea Ward as the Queen of Opportunity in a beautiful ballet that constituted the epilogue. " Reveille 1953
