Description
This black and white photograph features the 1952 stage actors performing a skit for Fort Hays Kansas State College’s 50th Anniversary in Sheridan Coliseum. The eleven ballerinas are assembled, sitting in relaxed positions at different levels on the stage in a pyramid in front of a backdrop painting of the Old Fort Hays Blockhouse. All the dancers wear simple, flowing, square-necked, long-sleeved dresses and look off into the distance. Five women wear light-colored dresses, while the other six wear a slightly darker dress. The women’s hair is all short, curled styles with white headbands. The dancer at the top sits on a prop throne chair covered in foil. She wears a crown. All are wearing ballet shoes tied with a ribbon at the ankle. "Bea Ward as the Queen of Opportunity in a beautiful ballet that constituted the epilogue. " Reveille 1953
