Abstract
Experienced practitioners have always suggested that the discus thrower pivot/transition/balance well over the left foot during the turn in the back of the circle and attempt to move in a generally straight line across the circle. One of the reasons for this has to do with the proper generation of forward linear momentum and the horizontal velocity of the system’s center of mass.
