Abstract
The mechanics of discus throwing is not yet fully understood. Based on the information available to date however, some mechanical elements present the most salient technical points in the course of a discus throw. The points presented here do not represent all technical issues encountered in discus throwing but they do constitute the frame upon which a sound technical pattern should be developed and they do make up the essential element that a practitioner should have in mind and upon which the throwing execution should be judged as effective and efficient or not.
