Santa Fe Trail, 1822-1872, Marked by the Daughters of the American Revolution and the State of Kansas, 1906, 12290 Monument Marking Old Santa Fe Trail, Dodge City, Kansas. THE OLD TOWN SANTA FE TRAIL, which ran from the town of Westport, which is now part of Kansas City, to Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the old border days, was a logical human pathway. The grades were easy and the trail followed closely its water supply. Dodge City was on the trail. In recent years there have been several movements started to mark the trail.
