    Nolan's Lippizzans on Parade. Nolan's Lippizzan Stables, Garden City, Kansas The famous Austrian Imperial Horses were seized by General Patton's Third Army at the end of World War II from the Stables of Babolna, near Vienna, Austria. The Original herd consisted of six Mares and one Stallion. These Horses were purchased by J.W. Nolan, of Garden City, Kansas, in 1949. The Nolan Stables are now raising colts from this herd and now have 22 young colts.
