Abstract
Continuous technological advancements have led to new channels for mass communication. Radio stations now have the opportunity to communicate outside of traditional broadcast boundaries through the World Wide Web. The purpose of this thesis was to compare the content of United States commercial FM radio World Wide Web sites with regard to quantity and quality of information presented. This was accomplished through coders who performed a random sampling procedure on MIT’s list of radio stations on the Internet. After the coders completed a Commercial FM Radio World Wide Web Site Analysis Form for each participant, the data analysis led to the conclusion that a majority of United States commercial FM radio stations have provided World Wide Web sites for no apparent reason other than to claim them.
