Description

This black and white photograph features the Elkader Post Office twenty miles from the nearest railroad station and town. Elkader Post Office also served as a gasoline station, grocery store, and gathering place for scattered homesteaders and fossil hunters in Kansas. There are two automobiles parked at the post office.
