Description

This black and white photograph features a campsite of the Sternberg / Smithsonian Party at Church Butte, Wyoming. Two tents are set up in the middle of a U-shaped rock formation. Three men are standing by a truck parked several yards in front of the white tent. A dark tent is to the left and back of the white tent. Clothes are hanging on a clothesline behind the white tent. Grasses and shrubs are on the valley floor where the camp is set up. Buttes and other rock formations are in the background.
