Description

This black and white photograph features a campsite of the Sternberg / Smithsonian Party at Church Butte, Wyoming. Two tents are set up in front of a long rock formation. A man is standing next to the dark tent on the left; two men are standing in front of the white tent. The younger man is holding a fabric in his hand. A truck is parked several yards to the right of the white tent. Clothes are hanging on a clothesline behind the white tent. Two pails, a crate with pans on top, and several bags are on the ground next to the white tent. Grasses and shrubs are on the ground in the lower part of the photograph.
