Description

This black and white photograph features a campsite near Church Butte in Wyoming. Two tents and a parked truck are in the foreground. A man is standing in front of the white tent; he is bent over at the waist and is holding a pan. Another man is seated in the shadows at the back of the truck. A couple of boxes are on the ground next to the white tent. A clothesline with clothes on it is strung from the back of the white tent. The land behind the campsite is part of the formation called Church Butte. The Oregon/California/Mormon Trails came very close to this area. Directly behind the camp is a butte rock formation. Flat land extends beyond that to other formations seen in the background. Grasses and shrubs are on that piece of land.
