Description

This item features the black and white photo of George F. Sternberg working on models of horses. The transcription notes that they are Gidley models. There are five different models on the table; three have already been painted. George is applying paint to a model closest to the wall. Various brushes and other tools are on the table in the foreground. According to a New York Times article from September 28, 1931, Dr. J. W. Gidley had died. He was an Assistant Curator of Fossil Mammals at the National Museum at Washington, and he was an authority on prehistoric horses.
