Description
This black and white photograph features the Elkader post office building in Kansas with a vehicle parked to the right of it. There is a ladder leaning on the building in the background. The front of the building reads "Elkader Post Office Kans." and the side of the building reads "Ice Cold Drinks. Free Camp Ground." Numbers are written below the photograph. "Twenty-five miles from the nearest railroad and town, Elkader Post Office also served as a gasoline station, grocery store, and gathering place for scattered homesteaders and fossil hunters."
