Description

This picture looks over hundreds of a packed-together herd of sea lions. This photograph was taken in the midst of an expedition on the coast of Argentina. Pictured are a majority of what seem to be sea lion pups being closely observed by their elders. The entirety of the colony seems to be facing inland toward the surrounding hills. The herd of pinnipeds is lounging on top of what seems to be some sort of rocky sand. A hill or outcropping can be seen on the horizon suggesting that the herd is located in a cove presumably somewhere along the coast of Argentina. Other names for these sea lions include the following: Octaria flavescens, Octaria bryonia, South American Sea Lion, Southern Sea Lion, and Patagonian Sea Lion.
