Description

This black and white photograph features George Sternberg standing on top of eroded rock formations while simultaneously clinging onto another rock directly in front of him. Sternberg is standing upon these rocks is dressed in jeans, boots, a long-sleeved shirt, and a wide-brimmed hat. His left foot is standing on a part of the rock that is sloped downwards, while his right foot is elevated among the part of the rock that is rising up towards the rock he is grabbing. The rock the man is grabbing is lying flat atop a small column of rock. He is grabbing onto the rock with his right hand, and is holding a pickaxe with his left hand. Also pictured in this image is an outcropping that fills the background. The rock formations are also pictured in the foreground of the image. Vertical erosion and stratified layers are visible
