Description
This black and white photograph reveals an overhead view of two men excavating a fossil. In this picture these two men are located on a small ledge of rock that had been cleared for them to uncover this fossil. The man to the right side of the image is seen wearing a white shirt and an ivy cap or flat cap. He is kneeling down next to the fossil and is holding onto the edge of the fossil with his right hand. The man to the left of the photo is lying on his side while wearing jeans, a light-colored shirt, and a brimmed hat. This man seems to be examining the front of the fossil they had found. You can also see the many layers of rock in the crevice that surrounds them. On a rock ledge above and to the right are excavation materials, including a small canvas pouch, a tin can with some tools, a knapsack, a torn burlap gunny sack, and a rolled-up newspaper, magazine, or manual.
