Description
The black and white photograph consists of three men down in a draw or a ravine in front of an eroded rock bed. George F. Sternberg is standing in front of a camera on a tripod, capturing the two men walking along the coulee to the rock bed. Sternberg is wearing brimmed hat, a shirt, and trousers with his laced boots covering his trousers. A small black case sits underneath Sternberg. A shovel and a pickaxe rest to the right of Sternberg. A railroad spike, shovel, and rocks are on top of a tarp. Farther into the photograph, two men are heading toward the rock bed. They are wearing trousers along with shirts and a cap. The eroded rock bed has vertical ridges that continue throughout the rock. Numbers are written below the photograph.
