Description
This black and white photograph features the Missouri River badlands near Cow Island in Montana. The ground is flat and covered with grass and young coniferous trees in the foreground. The land in the midsection is covered with more established coniferous trees. Right behind the trees are the badlands on the Missouri River in Montana. The stratified badlands have a rougher and rockier surface than the grassy land in the foreground. The surface is worn and eroded. Hardly any trees are seen in the badlands. Beyond the badlands, the Little Rocky Mountains are visible. Handwriting is below the photograph.
