Description
This black and white photograph features the team resting on the trail. At the bottom right of the photo is the opening of the stratified excavation site. Large rocks and supplies are clustered at the entrance of the quarry. Toward the middle of the photo, Sternberg's team of four horses and three men rests with their wagon of fossil specimens on a steep path. One of Sternberg's colleagues is behind the back wheel of the wagon, the second man is standing on a wagon, and the third is standing next to the black horse. Buttes are surrounding the team and the trail. Handwriting is below the photograph.
