This black and white photograph features George Sternberg working in a laboratory on a fossil. The large fossil is on a cart with wheels; parts of the fossil are still covered in plaster. Sternberg, who is wearing coveralls, is standing next to the cart with his left knee resting on the cart. He has a chisel in his left hand and is using it to work on the fossil. A taller work table is to the left. Other pieces of machinery are in the background along the wall of the laboratory. Handwriting is below the photograph.
