Description
This black and white photograph features a portrait of William Bickerton is shown sitting on a wicker chair next to a table, and in his right hand, he is holding a book, most likely a Bible; note from ledger: "Oldest negative Moseley, Etc. (Bickerton), Baker, not Tolard" / According to No Cyclone Shall Destroy (Dorrance, 1979), in 1874, William Bickerton left the Methodist Church and led a group from the Church of Jesus Christ onto the plains of Kansas searching for religious freedom and a place to build their dreams. William Bickerton ordered the photograph.
