Description
This black and white photograph features a portrait of a Black woman named Elsie Scott. She is standing with her hands behind her back and is wearing a long light dress and a bow in her hair. Elsie Scott (1889-1981) and Lela Scott (1889-1962) were twins, two of 17 children of John & Julia Scott. John & Julia were both ex-slaves who migrated to Stafford County after the Civil War & homesteaded near St. John. Elsie graduated St. John High School. Elsie Scott ordered the photograph.
