It may not be used to state or imply the endorsement by NASA or by any NASA employee of a commercial product, process, or service, or used in any other manner that might mislead. Accordingly, it is requested that if this photograph is used in advertising, posters, books, etc. Layout and copy be submitted to NASA prior to release. This is a view of the Prelaunch preparations at Cape Canaveral, Florida for the flight testing of a production version of the Project Mercury spacecraft. The purpose of the test was to qualify the craft and its systems in the environment of space. The launch vehicle is a Mercury Redstone booster. Project Mercury is the initial manned space flight program of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
