Astronaut Gus Grissom, standing in his Mercury Pressure suit at the hatch of the Human Centrifuge, Aviation Medical Acceleration Laboratory, during training for his Mercury-Redstone flight 1961. In many of these acceleration runs, the cabin altitude pressure was reduced to 5 psi and the suit was pressurized with and without added oxygen pressure, including emergency oxygen.
