Description
This black and white photograph features wrecker Equipment. "Newton Derrick (Wrecker, Big Hook). Coal-fired steam operated air pumps. Air operated was smoother than steam operated. Derrick is sitting on the west side of the backshops. It had a 200-ton capacity. It was a coal burner when assigned to Newton in 1927. It was later converted to oil and is now diesel powered. Sign reads: 'Fire Road. This road must be kept clear of obstructions at all times'. -Joe Collier." Full resolution copies of this file are not available.
