Description
Prior to the era of revolution the people and the government of the United States came into contact chiefly with the border regions of Spain's American empire. Such areas as Florida, Texas, and the Greater Antilles were absorbing the attention of American expansionists. Thus, not only by action but by basic policy, the United Stateswas opposed to contributing to the independence of Buenos Aires.
