Description

This color illustrated unofficial certificate features a proclamation that George Sternberg is a sailor of the high seas. The print is blue and red. An illustration at the top features the sea king Neptune with a trident and a shell. Fish, mermaids and mermen are in the water with the ocean waves. A ship is in the background. On the right side of the certificate is a gold anchor. The left side of the certificate has a sticker seal. The bottom of the certificate features a Munson Steamship Line logo with two seahorses.

PROCLAMATION Know ye all men by these presents that We, Neptune, the Great God of all the High Seas, have this day appointed to be one of our most worthy subjects George F. Sternberg who has been duly initiated into the mysteries of Our realm, thereby constituting HIM a free and lawful citizen of Our Imperial Dominions, and entitling HIM as such to pass and re-pass in peace at all times. Brothers and Sisters of the Order are hereby commanded to assist HIM in all HIS wanderings Given under Our Seal this 24th., day of November 1922. Attested Commander SS Southern Cross.'
